Affordable Housing Threshold Secured

Tetlow King Planning acting on behalf of the South West RSL Planning Consortium has helped to secure a lower than usual site size threshold for the negotiation of affordable housing in Weymouth and Portland. As part of our retainer on all emerging development plans throughout the South West on behalf of leading registered social landlords (RSLs) we had objected to the Council’s proposal to increase the site size threshold from 9 to 15 dwellings at the Revised Deposit stage on the basis that the Council had properly justified the lower figure and emerging government guidance in this direction. In his report of February 2005 the Inspector accepted the arguments we put at the Local Plan Inquiry in March 2004 and agreed that the lower figure could be justified pending revised national guidance. The Council has subsequently decided to proceed with the lower site size threshold in its Proposed Modifications.
