Old Junction Yard, Weston Super Mare
Tetlow King Planning (TKP) secured planning consent for the development of 24 affordable, permanent gypsy and traveller pitches at Old Junction yard in Weston-Super-Mare for Elim Housing.
Each pitch accommodates an ancillary living block, space for at least one caravan, private outdoor amenity space and off-street car parking. The proposals also included a site manager’s office, six visitor parking spaces, areas for play and open space and a storage area of touring caravans.
Public exhibitions were held to inform residents and businesses of the proposals and address their concerns.
TKP demonstrated that there was a shortage of authorised sites both nationally and particularly within North Somerset yet none of these had been delivered. It was also demonstrated that the site was sustainably located and would be of significant benefit to the gypsy and traveller community.
