Planners wanted for our expanding South East office

Opportunities have arisen within a well-established dynamic and successful Planning Consultancy for a Planning Assistant, Planner or Senior Planner due to a high level of work. These roles would be based in the South East office in West Malling.

The candidates will play a pivotal role assisting Senior Planning Consultants working across a variety of instructions that include large scale residential led mixed use schemes encompassing urban extensions, strategic site promotions and specialist care developments.

In addition, these roles provide a unique opportunity to assist with the provision of technical planning advice for a diverse range of clients. Typically, the consultancy works with both public and private sector clients including major house builders, private developers, housing associations, development consortiums and Local Authorities.

Key components of this post also encompass the preparation and submission of planning applications, conducting site appraisals, site promotion, written policy representations and producing planning statements.

This post will also necessitate building strong relationships with local authority planning officers to negotiate and discharge conditions coupled with finalising reserved matters.

You will also have the opportunity to assist with managing complex appeals, researching site histories and assisting with comprehensive stakeholder and community consultation exercises.

Successful candidates will have an RTPI accredited university degree related to Planning, preferably with practical planning experience through internship/work placement at either a planning consultancy, developer or local authority. At Senior Planner level experience within a planning consultancy and RTPI membership is preferable but not essential.

  • An understanding of the UK planning system and policy framework; and
  • Drive and ambition to progress in your career.

For the Senior Planner role a driving licence and access to a car is also highly desirable.
