Tetlow King Planning (TKP) provided evidence of the acute need for affordable housing within Tewkesbury Borough (TBC) to support the Council’s defence of their refusal of an application for up to 550 dwellings at land off Aston Field’s Lane, Ashchurch and need to deliver 40% affordable housing on the emerging strategic allocation in line with the Council’s viability evidence.
Andy Moger, Principal Planner, acted for TKP on behalf of TBC to provide comprehensive evidence of the need for affordable housing within the Borough and demonstrate that in light of the appellant not providing any evidence to the contrary, the Council’s viability evidence demonstrating 40% affordable housing was achievable on the site constituted the most up to date viability evidence available.
In his report to the Secretary of State, the Inspector recommended that the appeal be dismissed. The Secretary of State agreed with the Inspector and found that:
“Overall the secretary of state concludes that the proposal would not represent sustainable development and that the harm arising from this scheme would significantly and demonstrably outweigh the acknowledged benefits”.
The appeal was dismissed and a copy of the decision can be found here.
