Worcestershire Green Belt
Tetlow King Planning worked with international ‘case consolidation’ and distribution business, Oakland International Limited, to obtain planning permission for an additional 900 square metres of storage floor space in the Green Belt on appeal.
The Inspector found that there were very special circumstances which warranted granting planning permission, above concerns identified to the Green Belt.
The Inspector found that Oakland International plays a crucial role in the local economy and that the proposal would generate a further 30 jobs. He also highlighted the social role it performs in devoting time and resources to sponsoring charitable, sporting and educational links both in the local community and across the County. These social benefits “could hardly be a better example” of the social role envisaged in the government’s National Planning Policy Framework.
In conclusion, the Inspector commented that:
“The potential economic, social and environmental benefits associated with this proposal combine to constitute exactly the sort of sustainable development that warrants … compelling support”.
Jonathan Adams, Director, gave evidence at the hearing along with three Directors of Oakland International. The appeal was allowed and can be viewed here.
