Client Satisfaction with New Dwellings in Keynsham

In Spring 2016, Tetlow King Planning (TKP) successfully negotiated the grant of planning permission for developmentof four new homes to the east of Keynsham. The application submitted by Noma architects, sought the demolition of the existing outbuilding and the construction of four family-sized dwellings on part of the applicant’s generously-sized garden which is adjacent to land allocated for development.

Following submission of the application the planning officer indicated that the design was not acceptable, raising a number of objections. TKP were instructed at this stage to undertake design negotiations with Bath and North East Somerset Council to secure planning permission in this prominent location.

An understanding of the applicant’s aspirations and marketability of the proposals focused discussions with the officer on the design of the proposed houses in the streetscene. TKP set out clear design parameters and negotiated an acceptable high quality scheme, with modest design alterations submitted by Noma on amended plans. This ensured the dwellings would fit in with the local character and appearance of the surrounding area.

On conclusion of the successful negotiations the client expressed their delight with the outcome, and noted TKP’s “fantastic service” throughout the process.
