Weighty Benefits Attributed to Affordable Housing Evidence

Tetlow King Planning (TKP) assisted in achieving a successful outcome for Rosconn Strategic Land Ltd in its appeal against the decision of West Oxfordshire District Council to refuse permission for outline consent for up to 29 dwellings in Enstone, Oxfordshire.

TKP provided expert affordable housing evidence to support the appeal, which sought to provide 50% affordable housing. We demonstrated that this level of provision was critical for a village which may never see any significant levels of affordable housing again, set within the district-wide context of a serious need for more affordable housing in West Oxfordshire.

In assessing the overall planning balance of the appeal, the Inspector summarised that the additional housing would be a “weighty benefit for the area, by introducing much needed private and affordable housing for local people”, creating additional housing choice (paragraph 48).

TKP Director James Stacey said:

“I welcome the outcome of this appeal, which will see 15 genuinely affordable homes meet an acute need for such accommodation. I am delighted to have played a part in the appeal’s success”.

The appeal was allowed and can be viewed here.
